Metallurgy and Materials Science
In the metallurgical industry, there are a number of devices that must have high thermal conductivity. Copper or copper-based alloys are widely used as the material for such devices. One of such devices in metallurgical equipment is the crystallizer of a continuous casting machine (CCM). The most common cause of crystallizer failure is wear of the working surfaces of the copper linings. When casting steel on a CCM, the forming crust of the ingot slides along the surface of the copper working walls of the crystallizer. As a result of such friction, rather intensive abrasive wear of these walls occurs due to the relatively low microhardness of copper (80 N/mm2).
Heating of linings of steel-pouring ladles before receiving molten steel is an important technological operation. High-temperature heating of linings to 1100 – 1200 °C ensures a decrease in the cooling rate of molten steel and thermal stresses in the lining caused by its sharp heating from the liquid metal, and helps to increase the durability and service life of the lining. According to the data of work, increasing the lining heating temperature from 900 to 1200 °C leads to a decrease in energy consumption in the ladle-furnace unit by 10% and to an increase in the durability of the lining by 3 – 5%. The results of the research conducted by the authors of the work show that for ladles with a capacity of 30 tons, an increase in the lining temperature by every 100 °C allows for a reduction in the temperature of metal discharge from the electric arc furnace by 11 °C, which corresponds to a saving of 4 kW h of electricity per 1 ton of liquid steel.
At present, silicon alloys are widely used to improve the performance characteristics of steel and cast iron. These are ligatures containing barium and strontium as modifier elements, which are introduced into charge mixtures in the form of barite concentrates or ores (80–95% BaSO4) and celestine concentrates (more than 85% SrSO4).
The process of steel production and processing is multi-stage, which predetermines the complex and ambiguous nature of the influence of individual process parameters on the quality indicators of steel ingots. This fact necessitates a comprehensive approach to the analysis of the processes of forming the quality of steel ingots using modern methods of statistical data processing.
Mining and Geotechnology
At present, the development of the coal industry in Russia largely depends on the efficiency of solving problems that ensure safe and comfortable working conditions. Such problems include preventing geodynamic phenomena, intensifying the degassing of coal-bearing strata, reducing air dust, improving the schemes and methods of ventilation of mine workings, forecasting and preventing mine fires, and ensuring sanitary and hygienic working conditions. The efficiency of solving these problems significantly depends on the level of knowledge of the laws of interaction between geomechanical, gas-dynamic and thermodynamic processes. The first two types of processes have been studied in sufficient detail and regulatory documents have been developed based on the research results. However, the nature of thermodynamic processes in the rock mass and their role in the occurrence of endogenous fires, the influence on the nature of the temperature distribution of ventilation flows during the development of coal seams prone and very prone to spontaneous combustion have not been fully studied. In this regard, the study of the laws of heat transfer in the mine atmosphere and coal rock mass under normal conditions and in the presence of a fire source to ensure safe and comfortable working conditions in coal mines is an urgent scientific task.
Mechanical engineering and transport
In 1999, Rospatent issued a patent for the invention "Jaw Crusher", in which the movable jaw, two connecting rods of the movable jaw and the leading rocker form a closed four-link variable contour. In the present work, it is proposed to make a significant change to the crusher: to ensure crushing with two jaws. The diagram of such a crusher is shown in Fig. 1. The crusher consists of a drive crank 1 (AO1), a drive connecting rod 2 (AB), a leading rocker 3 (BCDO2), an upper connecting rod 4 (CE), a lower connecting rod 5 (DH), two movable jaws 6 (EG) and 7 (GO3). A special feature is the presence of two movable jaws with simple and complex movement, which form a five-link variable contour with two connecting rods and a rocker.
Chemistry and chemical technology
Aluminum alloys are widely used in mechanical engineering as a material for machine parts and mechanisms for a variety of purposes - from household appliances to aircraft. The scope of application of aluminum and its alloys in aviation technology, transport, and for transmitting electricity over long distances is constantly expanding. A special place is occupied by the replacement of expensive and scarce materials of cable technology with more accessible and cheaper ones made of aluminum alloys. The latter are a conductive material capable of withstanding high current loads. A major disadvantage of these alloys is their insufficiently high mechanical properties. Therefore, improving the physical and chemical properties of aluminum alloys remains the most important task of increasing the service life of metal materials.
Architecture and construction
Architecture as an artificial material-spatial environment exists to create the necessary conditions for people to live in, and thus it represents a shell for almost all life processes that are significant for an individual and society as a whole. As these processes develop and change, there is a need to change the shell in which they take place. This applies to both large formations (district, city, agglomeration) and small fragments of the material-spatial environment, such as a gazebo, apartment or house. Thus, there is a constant need to transform the existing material space. For example, a children's playground was created on the site of a vacant lot, and a residential complex was built on the site of an old factory.
The types of structures in gardens and parks are extremely diverse – from large multifunctional buildings to gazebos, benches and elements of children's and play areas. All this diversity can be conditionally, according to their compositional significance in the landscape, reduced to several groups.

Ammonia is a toxic substance of the 4th hazard class. Enterprises operating ammonia refrigeration units fall under the Federal Law No. 116-FZ of July 21, 1997 "On Industrial Safety of Hazardous Industrial Facilities". Ammonia concentration in the air of 0.5 - 2.0 mg / l is lethal, such a concentration leads to the death of living organisms. In addition, ammonia refrigeration units are potentially explosive and fire hazardous. That is why, in addition to a license to operate a chemically hazardous production facility, an enterprise operating ammonia refrigeration units must obtain a license to operate an explosive production facility.
Education and Pedagogy
Transformation of priority sectors of the economy and social sphere through the introduction of digital technologies and platform solutions is not only a state strategic goal, but also determines practical human activity in many areas of life. Thus, in the field of personnel selection, artificial intelligence is actively used to assess the suitability of an applicant for a position. Robots are used on all kinds of communication channels: email, SMS messages, instant messengers, video services (for example, HireVue, which not only records interviews with applicants on video, but also evaluates their professional competencies). Gamification technology is gaining popularity, which makes work processes more exciting and adds a spirit of competition to the work process. Large developers of such technologies have also emerged, providing the opportunity to implement gamification both in educational institutions and in the selection, training and development of personnel in other organizations using modern interactive technologies – computer simulators.
