VIKTOR NIKOLAEVICH FRYANOV IS 80 YEARS OLD

December 4, 2018 marks the 80th anniversary of the birth and 55 years of scientific and pedagogical activity of the outstanding mining engineer, famous scientist, professor, doctor of technical sciences, Honored Worker of the coal industry, Honored Worker of the Higher School of the Russian Federation, head of the Department of Geotechnology of the Siberian State Industrial University Viktor Nikolaevich Fryanov. Viktor Nikolaevich was born in the city of Kiselevsk, Kemerovo region, in the family of a miner. He graduated from the Prokopyevsk Mining College in 1958, and from the Kemerovo Mining Institute in 1963. Viktor Nikolaevich worked at the VNIIGidrougol Research Institute as a senior researcher, and since 1970 - as the head of the sector of the laboratory of development systems and rock pressure. In 1969, he defended his candidate's dissertation on the topic "Study of the nature of rock displacement during the extraction of flat coal seams by short faces in the conditions of Kuzbass", and in 1989, at the Institute of Coal and Coal Chemistry of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, he defended his doctoral dissertation "Control of geomechanical processes and substantiation of the parameters of the development systems of hydraulic mines of Kuzbass". In 1991, he was awarded the academic title of professor. Since 1972, all of Viktor Nikolaevich's work and scientific activities have been closely associated with the Siberian State Industrial University. From 1984 to the present, V.N. Fryanov is the head of the Department of Geotechnology, which occupies a leading position in the educational process of SibGIU. Every year, 120-150 diploma projects and papers are defended in state certification commissions, in which, in addition to confirming their knowledge of mining, students conduct scientific research on the problems of high-tech coal mining technologies.
Viktor Nikolaevich's contribution to the creation of scientific personnel potential is difficult to overestimate: under his leadership, a scientific school "Creation of intensive non-traditional information and material technologies for the extraction and processing of mineral raw materials" was created at SibGIU. V.N. Fryanov is a recognized specialist and consultant in the development of coal deposit mining technology and the introduction of numerical methods in geomechanics in the south of Kuzbass.
Based on the development of the coal deposit method, he developed a computer program package "Geomechanics", which is being developed by graduate and doctoral students when conducting scientific research and performing business contract work on orders from mining enterprises.

Under the supervision of Viktor Nikolaevich, 38 candidates and 8 doctors of technical sciences have been trained, who successfully work as teachers of higher educational institutions, leading specialists of enterprises, heads of city, regional and federal levels, and abroad. Viktor Nikolaevich Fryanov is a full member (academician) of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, the Academy of Engineering Sciences. He is an active participant in international exhibitions, fairs, conferences and forums. For 20 years, he has been actively involved in the preparation and holding of the International scientific and practical conference "Science-intensive technologies for the development and use of mineral resources" within the framework of the International Exhibition and Fair "Coal of Russia and Mining". He takes an active part as a responsible editor in the preparation and publication of a collection of works based on the materials of this conference. The main results of the conference have been published, systematized in the form of decisions and recommendations of the Kemerovo Region Administration. For active participation in specialized exhibitions of mining production technologies, he was awarded the badge "For Contribution to Exhibition Activities". High erudition, commitment, responsibility, balanced decisions, trusting attitude towards people - all this is aimed at the effective development of intensive coal mining technologies. With all the enormity of already implemented and still being drawn up plans, with all the intensity of his scientific and administrative life, Viktor Nikolaevich does not lose the optics that allows him to see the value and importance of each individual person with whom he has to deal.

Viktor Nikolaevich is the author of more than 500 scientific articles, 20 monographs, 25 teaching aids, he has received more than 20 patents and author's certificates. He effectively and actively participates in the work on grants. For many years of fruitful work, Professor V.N. Fryanov has repeatedly been awarded with gratitude and honorary certificates of the Russian Federation for Higher Education, regional and city administration. He was awarded the medals "For Special Contribution to the Development of Kuzbass" of the 3rd degree, "For Valiant Labor", "Laureate of the Prize of the Academy of Mining Sciences", "60th Anniversary of Miner's Day", "65th Anniversary of the Kemerovo Region", "Veteran of Labor", the badge "Labor Glory" of the 3rd degree, "Miner's Glory" of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd degrees, "Honorary Worker of the Coal Industry", "Laureate of the Kuzbass Prize", the silver badge "Miner of Russia". By the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated 24.10.17 No. 512, Viktor Nikolaevich was awarded the medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" of the 2nd degree. For his great contribution to the socio-economic development of Kuzbass and the training of highly qualified personnel, Viktor Nikolaevich Fryanov has repeatedly received the prize of the Governor of the Kemerovo Region. Viktor Nikolaevich Fryanov is the head of a large friendly miner's family. In 2015, the Governor of the Kemerovo Region expressed gratitude to the scientific dynasty of the Fryanovs for their great personal contribution to the development of Kuzbass and the careful preservation of family labor traditions.
