ELECTROPLATING AND PROPERTIES OF GALVANIC COMPOSITE ZINC-CHROME BORIDE COATINGS CrB2
Abstract
Among protective metallic and non-metallic coatings, zinc coatings are among the most effective and widespread. The widespread use of anti-corrosion zinc coatings to protect steel and cast iron products is due to the following reasons: high natural resistance of zinc itself due to the formation of protective films of corrosion products on it in a corrosive environment; high anodic protection of steel by galvanizing in atmospheric conditions and in fresh water at temperatures up to 343 K; at higher temperatures, the zinc coating protects steel in aggressive environments only mechanically, transforming from an anodic coating into a cathodic one; galvanizing is implemented in many technological variants, providing different formation mechanisms, physicochemical and operational characteristics of the coatings; galvanizing processes are technologically relatively simple, mechanized and automated, and have high technical and economic indicators.
