FEATURES OF CHANGES IN THE MICROSTRUCTURE PARAMETERS AND THERMAL EXPANSION OF SILUMINES DEPENDING ON THEIR SILICON CONTENT

Abstract

A favorable combination of casting, mechanical, and a number of operational properties allows silumins to be used in mechanical, aircraft, and instrument making. The properties of Al–Si alloys depend on their microstructure, which is determined by their chemical composition, melting conditions (including batch and melt processing), crystallization, and heat treatment.
