On July 9, 2016, Eduard Viktorovich Kozlov passed away. He was a renowned scientist in the field of physical materials science and solid-state physics, head of the physics department at Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor, full member of the International Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Engineering, St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences in strength physics, member of the Interstate Coordination Council on the Physics of Strength and Plasticity of Materials.
Eduard Viktorovich had extensive encyclopedic knowledge in the field of condensed matter physics and physical materials science. He published 44 monographs, including 2 in the USA, and over 950 scientific articles. He supervised 36 candidates and 10 doctors of science. In fact, this list is longer, since it only includes those students in whose abstracts his name is officially mentioned as the head. Kozlov E.V. created the Scientific School, the works of which have international scientific recognition.
A large cycle of structural studies of steels of various classes was carried out in the team of E.V. Kozlov and under his leadership in collaboration with the Department of Physics of the Siberian State University of Management. Long-term scientific cooperation with this team was very fruitful.
A number of fundamental results were obtained that have both scientific and practical significance. Among them are the establishment of patterns of formation of gradient structural-phase states in steels of various classes subjected to deformation by rolling, impact loading, fatigue testing, and exposure to electric current. An important result of the research was the preparation and defense of a number of candidate and doctoral dissertations, as well as the writing and publication of several monographs, which summarized the research carried out.
The scientific and pedagogical activity of Professor E.V. Kozlov was noted by three government awards, including the "Order of Friendship".
The bright memory of Eduard Viktorovich will remain in the hearts of those who knew him and worked with him.
