March 4, 2017 marked the 65th anniversary of the birth and 40 years of scientific and pedagogical activity of the famous scientist in the field of metallurgy and chemical engineering, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Gennady Vladislavovich Galevsky. Gennady Vladislavovich Galevsky was born in the city of Barabinsk, Novosibirsk Region. In 1974, he graduated from the Siberian Metallurgical Institute, specializing in "Metallurgy of ferrous metals", in 1977 - postgraduate study at the Institute of Physical and Chemical Foundations of Mineral Raw Materials Processing of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1979, he was awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences in specialty 05.17.11 “Technology of Silicate and Refractory Inorganic Materials”, and in 1991, Doctor of Technical Sciences in specialty 05.17.01 “Technology of Inorganic Substances”. He holds the academic title of Professor (1991). All of Gennady Vladislavovich's work and scientific activity, starting from 1977, has been connected with the Siberian State Industrial University (SibGIU, formerly SMI, SibGGMA): associate professor, professor, head of the department of non-ferrous metallurgy and chemical engineering (from 1991 to the present day), vice-rector for academic affairs (1993-2008), director of the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science (from 2013 to the present). With the direct participation of Professor Galevsky G.V. A comprehensive program was developed and implemented to transform a specialized metallurgical institute first into the Siberian Mining and Metallurgical Academy (1995), and then into the Siberian State Industrial University (1998) with a developed infrastructure, modern educational and scientific platforms, highly effective quality management systems for training specialists and facilitating their employment. For many years of fruitful pedagogical and administrative work and great personal contribution to the training of specialists with higher education, in 2000, G.V. Galevsky was awarded the title of "Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation".

Under the leadership of Professor G.V. Galevsky, the scientific school "Creation and Application of Nanomaterials in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering" was formed and has been successfully functioning for 35 years. Within the framework of this school, such major scientific and applied problems as the development of plasma-thermal technologies for the production of multifunctional nanomaterials for composite materials science; the creation of scientific foundations for the design and construction of the necessary plasma-thermal equipment; the introduction into circulation of a wide range of nanomaterials in domestic metallurgical practice. Scientific and technological developments are protected by 30 patents and have been awarded gold, silver and bronze medals of the All-Russian Exhibition Center and the All-Russian Exhibition Center. For services in the development of a priority area of science and technology, the creation of a scientific school, and the education and training of scientific personnel, in 1999 Professor G.V. Galevsky was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation", and in 2004, for high achievements in the development of the economic and scientific potential of Russia, he was awarded the Order of Friendship and the badge "Honored Metallurgist of the Russian Federation", he was awarded the title of "Laureate of the Kuzbass Prize". In 1996, the Department of Metallurgy of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences elected him as its academician.
The creative legacy of Professor G.V. Galevsky includes more than 950 works, including 25 monographs and scientific reference publications, 650 published scientific articles, 35 textbooks, 55 collections of scientific papers, 145 educational and methodological works, 40 patents and certificates. He was awarded the Order "For Merit in the Science of Metals", established by the domestic leader of metallurgical education and science - the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (NUST).

Colleagues and students heartily congratulate Professor Gennady Vladislavovich Galevsky on his 65th birthday. Health, long life, creative success!
