SIBERIAN STATE INDUSTRIAL UNIVERSITY IS 90 YEARS OLD

Dear colleagues, dear friends!

June 23 marks the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the first university in Kuzbass – the Siberian State Industrial University. Over the 90 years of its existence, the university has transformed from a highly specialized metallurgical institute into a polytechnic and industrial university, and its campus, which began in the 1930s with a single building on Rudokoprovaya Street, has grown to include 28 infrastructure facilities located on a territory with a total area of over 17 hectares. Currently, the university is a modern educational and scientific complex located in the center of Novokuznetsk. In accordance with the license, the university can implement 108 training areas under 25 UGSN. Today, SibGIU includes 10 institutes (including 7 graduating ones). The university structure includes 34 educational and scientific laboratories, 11 scientific and educational centers, 2 research centers, 4 scientific and methodological centers, 4 innovation consulting centers, a Certification Center, a project and implementation center for innovative technologies, a Materials Science Collective Use Center, a Prototyping and Additive Technologies Collective Use Center, a Student Business Incubator, an Experimental Laboratory of Automated Energy-Generating Technologies, and a pilot production facility. The university has 3 dissertation councils in 9 scientific specialties. Fundamental and applied research is carried out in 14 scientific schools. During its existence, the university has trained more than 95,000 specialists, of which about 30,000 are graduates of metallurgical specialties.

In 2019, the university became part of the world-class Scientific and Educational Center "Kuzbass", created by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of April 30, 2019 No. 537 "On measures of state support for world-class scientific and educational centers based on the integration of higher education institutions and scientific organizations and their cooperation with organizations operating in the real sector of the economy."
The presented anniversary issue of the journal includes articles by author teams of university scientists dedicated to solving fundamental and applied scientific and practical problems in various fields of science and technology.
The scientific and pedagogical staff of the university celebrates its 90th anniversary full of plans, new ideas and prospects for further development.
