VIKTOR EVGENIEVICH GROMOV IS 75 YEARS OLD

On November 26, 2022, Viktor Evgenievich Gromov, a member of the editorial board of the journal, turned 75 years old. He is a well-known metal physicist in Russia and abroad, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Honorary Metallurgist of the Russian Federation, member of the Interstate Council on Strength and Plasticity Physics of Materials, member of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Condensed Matter Physics, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Natural Sciences named after Professor V.M. Finkel of the Siberian State Industrial University. Viktor Evgenievich Gromov is registered in the Federal Register of Experts in the Scientific and Technical Sphere of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Russian Academy of Sciences, he is a member of the editorial boards of five journals from the HAC list. As a highly qualified specialist, Viktor Evgenievich rightfully occupies a leading place among Russian scientists in the field of materials science, physics of strength and plasticity of steels and alloys. Throughout his long scientific career, his teachers and associates were and are famous Russian scientists-metal physicists and materials scientists V.E. Panin, L.B. Zuev, E.V. Kozlov, A.M. Glezer, Yu.F. Ivanov. M.D. Starostenkov.

Experimental and theoretical research in the field of physics of strength and plasticity of materials under external energy effects (electric fields and currents, plasma and electron beams), carried out over 45 years by V.E. Gromov and his students, have received wide recognition in scientific circles and led to the creation of a new scientific direction. The research results have found application both in academic, industry and educational institutes in studying the nature of metal and alloy shaping, and in a number of enterprises of the metallurgical industry and mechanical engineering in the development of appropriate electrical technologies. They have been implemented with significant economic effect at enterprises of Kuzbass. For a series of works on the implementation of acid-free scale removal technology in the production of wire from low-carbon and low-alloy steels at enterprises of the metallurgical industry, V.E. Gromov was awarded the Russian Government Prize in Science and Technology. In 2013, he became a laureate of the I.P. Bardin Prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In recent years, the scientific school "Strength and Plasticity of Materials under External Energy Impacts", headed by Professor V.E. Gromov, has been fruitfully working in the field of nanostructured materials science under grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Russian Science Foundation and target programs of the Ministry of Education and Science. During his work at the higher school, Viktor Evgenievich Gromov demonstrated the qualities of a talented teacher and organizer of higher education. V.E. Gromov is "Best Professor of Kuzbass 2003", "Honorary Professor of Kuzbass" 2015, one of the leading professors of the university. He enjoys the well-deserved respect of students and colleagues. His lectures are distinguished by a combination of a high theoretical level and a clear form of presentation.

V.E. Gromov is a co-author of three scientific discoveries registered by the International Academy of Authors of Inventions and Discoveries and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. His scientometric indicators: Hirsch index according to the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) - 37, Scopus - 20, Web of Science - 19. In 2020, according to estimates by Elsevier, the owner of the Scopus database, he was among the 2% of the most cited scientists in the world.
Viktor Evgenievich has trained a galaxy of talented researchers - 11 doctors and over 40 candidates of science, fruitfully working in higher education, in production, in business. He is the author of more than 3900 scientific publications, including 35 patents and over 100 monographs, eight of which were published by Cambridge International Science Publication Ltd, Materials Research Forum, Springer, Taylor and Francis in English.
V.E. Gromov is a full member of the International Academy of Energy and Information Sciences and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. His merits are marked by medals "For Service to Kuzbass", "For Special Contribution to the Development of Kuzbass" of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree, the Order of Honor of Kuzbass and other awards and certificates of the Kemerovo Region Administration.
