Excellent studies – success in production.

Industrial experience – success in teaching.

March 6, 2022 marks the 65th birthday of Ivan Semenovich Kuznetsov, candidate of technical sciences, corresponding member of the Academy of Quality Problems, academic adviser of the Kuzbass branch of the engineering academy, lecturer of the department of "Metal forming and metal science. EVRAZ ZSMK", an active inventor.

Ivan Semenovich was born in 1957 in Dmitrov, Moscow Region. In 1979, he graduated with honors from the Siberian Metallurgical Institute, specializing in "Metal forming". Since his student days, he has been passionate about scientific research. His area of scientific interests is the technology and theory of rolling production. Since 1979, he worked in the Central Plant Laboratory (CPL) of ZSMK, first as a research engineer, then as a leading research engineer, head of the rolling laboratory group of the CPL. He was engaged in the development and improvement of technological processes for the production of rolled products. In 1989, Ivan Semenovich graduated from the Special Faculty for Retraining of Personnel of the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys. In 1994, he defended his PhD thesis at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys. From 1999 to 2001, I.S. Kuznetsov worked as the head of the steel rolling production laboratory of the Central Plant of Steel. His responsibilities included management and organization of analysis and testing of raw materials, materials and finished products of steel rolling production, development and improvement of production technology. Successful work in production allowed the management of the plant to promote him to the position of head of the Central Plant of Steel, where he gained experience in managing a team of more than 500 people. On an enterprise-wide scale, he gained experience in developing and improving technological processes for the production of products of the entire closed-cycle metallurgical plant. He is a co-author of more than 90 scientific papers, of which 25 scientific articles were published in publications indexed by the international SCOPUS database, 12 patents for inventions were received. In 2014-2018, he worked as a chief specialist in rolling production in the technical department and quality department of EVRAZ ZSMK JSC, where he was engaged in improving the technology for rolling production. As part of the program for course training in technological professions in rolling production at the EVRAZ Siberia RCPP, he lectured on the theory and technology of rolling, on equipment and automation of rolling shops. The time has come for Ivan Semenovich to share his knowledge within the walls of his native university.

In February 2019, he became the head of the Center for Strategic Partnership and Practice at the Siberian State Industrial University. From 2021 to the present, he has been a lecturer at the Department of Metal Forming and Metal Science. EVRAZ ZSMK. His experience made it possible to write a lot of useful information for students, graduate students and manufacturers in the form of a textbook "Design of technological processes for metal forming." In this manual, I.S. Kuznetsov and his co-authors, using many years of experience working with personnel, presented a modern algorithm for solving technical and organizational problems arising in the workshops of a metallurgical enterprise by constructing a "problem tree", a "goal tree", and analyzing alternatives. In addition, based on the experience of improving the qualifications of personnel, they presented a description of existing and promising metal forming technologies. This manual will allow to qualitatively improve student learning by implementing the thesis on practice-oriented learning. The textbook was awarded the "Gold Medal" of the Frankfurt Book Fair, which was held on October 20-24, 2021 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

The staff of the department, students and master's students of the university, the rector's office, and university colleagues heartily congratulate him on his anniversary and wish him further creative success!
