Abstract

Based on the topological method, a mathematical model of the process of slagging the lining of an oxygen converter using a special mounting lance has been formed. A diagram of the relations of the lance system – gas-powder mixture – slag – converter lining is constructed, on the basis of which an analytical form of the model under consideration is obtained in the form of a system of equations. The analytical equations, after their reduction to the canonical form, allow us to model the dynamics of the main parameters of the slag dressing application during the process. Using the developed model in relation to the conditions of an industrial heavy converter, calculated changes in gas pressure and flow rate along the sections of supply pipelines and tuyeres, as well as the speed of movement of the slag emulsion during the process of lining slagging, were determined. A comparative analysis of the calculated values of the parameters of the process of applying slag garnishing to the converter foot with the measured actual values of the operating parameters of the industrial converter unit confirmed the adequacy of the developed model. Based on the simulation results, patterns of changes in nitrogen pressure and flow rate, and the speed of slag movement during the lining slagging process have been determined, which indicate the presence of an operating mode with a pulsation period of about 3 seconds and the presence of periodic changes in amplitudes. The obtained results of numerical modeling are the theoretical basis for improving the technological modes of gas-powder slag blowing on the walls of the converter in order to improve the quality of the formed garnishing coating, reducing energy and material costs.
