В Кузбассе с каждым годом увеличивается (1951 млн. т) рост объемов добычи угля и соответственно отходов, большая часть которых не используется, а сбрасывается в отвалы и отстойники, хотя современные технологии по переработке отходов могут обеспечить качественную и разнообразную продукцию (угольные брикеты, строительные кирпичи, органические удобрения). Площадь нарушенных территорий для складирования техногенных ресурсов превышает площадь городов.
One of the most significant coal-producing regions is the Kemerovo Region. In Kuzbass, coal production volumes are increasing annually (1,951 million tons), along with the corresponding waste, much of which is unused and dumped in waste dumps and settling ponds, although modern waste processing technologies can produce high-quality and diverse products (coal briquettes, building bricks, organic fertilizers). The area of land disturbed by the storage of man-made resources exceeds the area of cities.
