Город как объект исследования, проектирования и эксплуатации постоянно находится в сфере деятельности многих специалистов: архитекторов и дизайнеров, социологов и экономистов, экологов и дендрологов, геологов и инженеров транспорта и т.д., задачей же градостроителей является координация усилий всех специалистов с тем, чтобы придать городу функциональную и структурную целостность. Эта работа проводится, в основном, на стадии исследования, проектирования и строительства. При этом уже построенный город как бы остается «без присмотра». А ведь именно теперь в нем начинается естественная жизни «второй природы», идет освоение человеком предметно-пространственного окружения. За- рождаются традиции, формируются общественные типы поведения, определяются социальные и эстетические ценности.

The urban environment is always unique in its character, not only in different cities, but also in different districts of the same city.
